After graduating from Athens School of Fine Arts, he got awardedfrom the Creative Art Exhibition, the JoongAng Art Exhibition, and so on. He was the first Korean artist who was curated by Frissiras Museum in Athens, Greece and also introduced in the Greek Contemporary Artists book. It was that RHEE, KWANG-BOK hasbeen recognized for his artistry and his works at the same time. In particular, he has internationally renowned for the portraits of Macarius III, who is the first president of Cyprus.


RHEE, KWANG-BOKwho returned to Korea after working in Greece for nearly 30 years, has put some unusually strong scent of apples in his studio in Gong-Ju. During his study in Athens, he once saw a nostalgic feature in apples at a market and they were reflected in the moonlight and shining beautifully. At that time, he couldn’t figure out what he had to take out of it, and then, he decided to have apples as his alter-ego. Later, the apple has become his muse.
