After graduating from the Department of Art Education at Seoul Gyeongin National University of Education, Joo, Woon-hang worked as a western painter and served as the director of the Busan International Art Fair. He held 21 solo exhibitions, 24 group exhibitions, and 37 overseas exhibitions and the number of the total exhibition by 2021 has been over 580 times.
His major theme has been related to 'conscious energy. The artist’s important motifs include brain science, quantum mechanics, the origin of human consciousness, and the Book of Heaven. He has been obsessed with questions like ‘what is consciousness energy?’ and ‘can it be visualized?’ for a long time. According to him, human beings are a kind of small universe, and the world exists within them.

It is the first exhibition by Joo, Woon-hang presented at JW Art Gallery. The exhibition is sort of the result of long research and exploration into all the questions of <Spring of Consciousness>.
He constantly explores the principles or truths that make visual beauty possible not only for appearance, but for beauty, and the work of art express the world of consciousness that can be seen as human nature.
Appreciating the work with a focus on the ‘consciousness’, we can focus on what kind of humans seek and where the beauty comes from, and what kind of hopes and dreams come from human consciousness for the world and what form it takes. It could be an interesting moment to think through it.
