ABOUT ARTIST
How was your effort to become a painter?
After I made up my mind to become a painter, I was very active getting in everything. When it came to painting, I continued to look and watch without missing art books or exhibitions. I didn’t let go of my brush even when I had to take care of my husband's health.
If it's not a special occasion, I draw every day as a habit. It's been over 30 years since I started painting in earnest, but I think it's been about 15 years since I feel comfortable grabbing my brush. In the meantime, my painting style also changed slightly.
I saw an article somewhere that focused on ‘depth of color’. I sympathized with the saying, ‘color is the subject’.
Color is the key factor for any painter. The story of color is not simple.
Rather than painting a rose, I want to bring out the deep colors within the rose to convey its true meaning of the rose. For that, it takes a very long time to create colors. Basically, I mix, experiment, and observe until I get the color I want. But again, color isn't everything, so I think the unique development and finish are important as well.
What do you like to do besides painting?
I like to decorate, so I have a lot of interest in interior design. I once used to want to be a party planner. I feel good when I create a party atmosphere by using colors, flowers, and props that fit the theme. Other than that, as long as there is wine, flowers, and great music in the studio, there is nothing more to ask for.
What do you do when the work is not going well or doesn't come out on your way?
When that happens, I do very detailed and precise drawings. It doesn't require thinking or worrying, it's just a matter of slowly drawing the object. When time goes by like that, I think I feel better to some extent.
As an artist, what do you think is most important?
The most important thing in my life is 'family'. Painting is not a priority over family. However, the most important thing as an artist is ‘myself’. Personally, I hope that my life is the result of living a truthful and sincere life. If it is, that returns to work that I want or can acknowledge. I really want that the picture I put out all my heart and sincerity can comfort and make someone happy.
Where do you get ideas from and what makes you drive?
All creators have the pain of creativity. Some can get it from listening to music or reading books, but I tend to read a lot of fashion magazines. Honestly, isn't the creative power of fashion designers amazing? I am stunned by how they can use those patterns and colors. Sometimes, the various colors of the clothes are the same, but they look different.
